Coach Mike Newton:
Head Coach & Director of Player Development, Mike Newton played HS Lacrosse in Northern Virginia prior to playing NCAA D3 lacrosse at Radford University located in Southern Virginia. At Radford, he was one of the top point leaders his sophomore season as a Midfielder/Attackman. He then migrated to Texas, graduating from Texas A&M University where he played on their club team for (3) years with their current Head Coach, former All American Cornell Midfielder, Tony Scazzero. His coaching experience began as Assistant Head Coach at Klein Middle School from 2004-2006 where his team finished runner up in the D2 Championship game in his 2nd year. He became the Head Coach at Memorial HS in 2007, taking over a team that was 8-17 in their previous (2) seasons. During his (7) year tenure at Memorial HS, his teams made the playoffs (4) seasons, won a 2009 District D2 Championship and earned a State Tournament appearance. He successfully led the transition of the Memorial program into Division I league status and was awarded 2008 South District D2 Coach of the year and 2009 THSLL Coach of the year honors.
Coach Jim Hardinbrook:
Assistant Coach, Coach Hardinbrook played football and lacrosse for Long Beach High School on Long Island, NY. He spent four years in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his military service, Coach Hardinbrook relocated to Houston where he coached and played for 15 years with the Houston Lacrosse Club. He was named a five time Texas All Star at the defensive position. This is Coach Hardinbrook’s third year with The Woodlands Lacrosse Club.
5th / 6th GRADE
Coach Mike Opdenaker:
Head Coach, Mike Opdenaker was a 4 time letter winner and team captain at Army. Prior to that he attended Malvern Prep where he was a PA state champion, 3 time league All Star, All State performer, and two-time league Defensemen of the Year. He then attended prep school at Choate Rosemary Hall where he was named an All Scholastic performer. He was additionally invited to the U.S. under 17 development camp. Coach Opdenaker has coached lacrosse for 8 years at numerous levels, and is a US Lacrosse level 2 certified coach.
Coach Austin Finta:
Assistant Coach, Coach Finta is a Senior at The Woodlands High School. He started playing lacrosse is 4th grade. Austin has played for The Woodlands High School Division I and Division II teams. In 2014 he won the Most Valuable Player Award for the DII Varsity Team and the THSLL South County Honorable Mention All-District Award. He played for the Houston Lacrosse Academy (HouLA) and StickStar Texas United Select Teams in 2013, and in 2014 he played for the StickStar Dallas Select Team. Austin has also volunteered his time assisting Coach Opdenaker with the 5th/6th grade lacrosse teams in during the Spring 2016 season. In addition to lacrosse, Austin played football, soccer, and hockey. Austin just finished is Varsity football season with 12-6A All District Academic and All State Academic Honors.
3rd / 4th GRADE
Coach Sean Graham:
Head Coach, Sean Graham is a native of Canada and migrated south back in 2001. Prior to joining the Woodlands Jr High Lacrosse Club, He was an assistant coach with the Klein Lacrosse Club, eventually taking over the Head Coaching duties for their 4U team. During the 2016 season Coach Graham led the 4U team to an impressive 9-2 season and placed 3rd overall in the GHYLA playoffs. In addition to regular season play, Coach Graham led teams participating in Texas tournaments including the League City Last Stand and Aggieland Classic. Coach Graham is PCA and US Lacrosse Level 2 Certified.
Coach Mark Williams:
Head Coach, Mark Williams played at Hope College in Michigan for four years 1989-1992. After which he coached Grand Rapids Forrest Hills Central Varsity Lacrosse to the D2 state final 1993 and the quarter finals 1994. Mark spent the last 5 years coaching with the Klein Lacrosse Club. Most recently as the Middle School head coach.
Coach Keith Tintle:
Head Coach, Keith Tintle (Coach T) is currently the D1 Varsity head coach at The Woodlands High School Lacrosse Club. He came to the Woodlands Junior High Club after coaching at the Kinkaid School in Houston, TX from 1997-2003. He ran our club until 2012 when he was hired as the head coach of The Woodlands High School D1 Varsity team. We are honored to have him continue to invest in our youth and coach the Box programs. He is known for teaching the fundamentals and providing a great foundation for our Junior High players.
