Training Program

BOX lacrosse is our primary off-season training program. The training methodology behind BOX lacrosse has proven to refine player stick skills and game IQ in a relatively short period of time. It leads to the development of a complete lacrosse player, improving offensive and defensive skills in all players. This program is directed by TWHS Varsity Head Coach Keith Tintle and through his systematic approach our players especially develop stick skills, shooting, and footwork.

BOX lacrosse is played on a small field or rink with only 5 players a side and smaller 4’x4’ goals. The field is enclosed which requires player creativity in tight spaces. This high-speed training environment brings unsettled situations, fast breaks and forces each player to learn off-ball movement coupled with offensive and defensive strategies.

Rising 4th - 6th graders split their sessions between skill development and scrimmages.  Controlled but fast-paced stickwork followed by rapid-fire shooting drills hone the basic stick skills these experienced players already possess. Coach T carefully plans out these sessions to keep the boys properly engaged and equally challenged.

Rising 7th - 8th graders are also led by Coach Keith Tintle. He is very engaging with all of the JR High boys who plan to play high school lacrosse in the next 1-2 years. Their training sessions include 30 minutes of stick work followed by scrimmages amongst their peers. These experienced players are encouraged to be creative, and further develop their lacrosse IQ, which ultimately fosters their love of the game.
