HISTORY OF THE GREATER HOUSTON LACROSSE CHAPTER
The Chapter was formed in January of 2008 as an offshoot of the North Texas and South Central TX Chapters. It has already been recognized by the US Lacrosse for making phenomenal progress in quickly providing opportunities for lacrosse players in our area.The Chapter already has 28 board and committee members providing chapter leadership and has a chapter web site. Some of the events the Houston Chapter has sponsored are:
- A U.S. Women's National Team Clinic.
- Tryouts with the South Central and North Texas Chapter areas to select and send two teams to the US Lacrosse National Schoolgirl Tournament.
- A US Lacrosse Coaching Education Program (CEP) Level 1 Clinic.
- Organized teams ranging from U-13 to U-19 elite for over ten tournaments, showcases and festivals, including both US Lacrosse Festivals, several Downingtown (Pa.) tournaments, Vail/Breckenridge (Co.) tournaments, All-Star Express, Capital Cup and the Indian Prairie Showdown.
On the horizon:
- Another CEP Level I Coaching Clinic
- A Level II Coaching Clinic
- A Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop
- Creation of a Hall of Fame in conjunction with the North Texas and South Central Chapters.
